Crock Pot Meatball Subs

dumb and done meals

Crock pot5 ingredients5 min prep
Meatball subs topped with marinara and grated Parmesan on toasted rolls

Why it's dumb & done

Dump a bag of frozen meatballs and a jar of sauce in the crock pot and walk away. Dinner is ready whenever you are, which is a lifesaver on busy nights like trick-or-treating or game night.

Why kids will like it

Saucy meatballs and melty cheese they can eat with their hands. Picky eaters can build their own sub with as much (or as little) sauce as they want.

The recipe

You'll need

  • 1 bag (about 2 lb) frozen fully cooked meatballs
  • 1 jar (24 oz) marinara sauce
  • 8 hoagie or sub rolls
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella
  • Grated Parmesan, for sprinkling

Do this

  1. Dump the frozen meatballs into the crock pot, pour the marinara over them and stir to coat.
  2. Cover and cook on low 4–5 hours or high 2–3 hours, until the meatballs are hot all the way through (165°F).
  3. Split the rolls and spoon 3–4 meatballs with sauce into each one. Top with mozzarella.
  4. Want it extra melty? Set the subs on a sheet pan and broil 1–2 minutes, watching closely, until the cheese bubbles.
  5. Sprinkle with Parmesan and serve.
