Boogie Nights at LMDC
Get ready to flash back and throw down! From the final days of disco to the neon-soaked explosion of punk rock, pop rock, and heavy metal, we’re dancing deep into the ‘80s for a night of big hair, big sound, and big fun—all to benefit Lynn Meadows Discovery Center.
Boogie Night 2025 – Let’s Dance! is our annual FUNdraiser, where hundreds of supporters come together for a cause that rocks: helping kids learn, grow, and shine through interactive exhibits and our award-winning WINGS Performing Arts Program.

Science Saturday – Ceramic Engineering
Ceramic Engineering: Build Your Own Rocket Ship
Workshop Description:
Join Artist/Engineer Steve Barney for a hands-on STEAM workshop where art meets aerospace! Inspired by the historic Saturn V rocket on display at INFINITY Science Center, participants will learn the basics of ceramic sculpture while exploring the principles of rocket design and engineering. Using simple slab-building techniques, students will create their own small rocket ship sculptures out of clay.
This fun, hands-on session introduces key concepts in space exploration, material science, and design thinking while encouraging creativity, problem-solving, and cross-disciplinary learning. Designed for ages 8 and up, no prior clay experience is required. Completed sculptures will be kiln fired and ready for pickup at the museum two weeks after the workshop.
Participants also get to enjoy museum time at the discounted rate of $10, which is included in the ticket price.

The Youth World Series is THE tournament for your D2 (lower AAA, AA) or D3 (A) level travel baseball team. We use Baseball Youth’s DivLevel Team Classification System. Spend a fun packed, 4 day weekend at some amazing family vacation destinations at some of the best synthetic turf facilities in the country!
9U, 10U, 11U, 12U, 13U, 14U, 15U, and 16U baseball teams from around the country will compete in a national championship / world series environment featuring skills competitions, 5-7 games with unique double sided bracket play, Gold, Silver and Bronze brackets and more. Played close to water parks, thrill parks, and beaches!

Slab Fish Family Night
Join us for a family night pottery workshop on the Ohr O’Keefe Museum campus to create a colorful fish. Bring your kids (age 10+) tweens & teens. Participants will use templates to cut slabs in the shape of fish, attach the slabs info a 3D sculpture and paint/decorate with under-glazes.
Once the fish are completely dry we will bisque fire, then clear glaze and fire your fish sculpture. Your fish will be ready to pick-up in approximately 2-3 weeks.

Founded in 2015 by the vibrant duo Ann Madden and Sandy Maggio, this festival is a grand tribute to the legendary Mexican artist Frida Kahlo. This festival celebrates diversity, uplifts artists, and helps make a positive impact in our community. Each year, our Frida look-alike contest raises funds for a worthy cause, and this year, we’re celebrating Frida’s love of animals! All proceeds will benefit Woodside Wildlife Rescue, an all-volunteer, non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue and rehab of Mississippi's wildlife. Our contest welcomes everyone—women, men, children, and especially your beloved pets!

Summer Reading Program at Hattiesburg Zoo
Wednesdays during the Summer Reading Program, Woolmarket will be hosting an all-ages presentation and craft.
This week, we will be joined by Hattiesburg Zoo and some of their critters! Our activity after the speaker is animal shadow puppets.
Over the summer, we conduct a summer reading program. This program is 100% free for all students. Summer reading programs are beneficial in many ways.
Prevent Summer Slide- children may lose some of their academic gains. Regular reading keeps their skills sharp.
Indoor Activities- During the summer, it is very hot in Woolmarket. Our indoor activities allow for learning and fun inside.
Crafts- Our program is not only reading, but we also conduct an art project every day.
Overall, summer reading programs like ours play a crucial role in maintaining literacy skills and fostering a love of reading during the summer months!
