Looking for a fun event this fall? The Gulf Coast Mom Fall Fun Guide has something for everyone! Whether you are looking for a family-friendly fall festival, an event for moms’ night out, or a pumpkin patch, we’ve got you covered! Check out all the fun events happening on the Mississippi Gulf Coast this fall.

 

SEPTEMBER

Biloxi Seafood Festival 

  • 9 am-9 pm, September 9

  • Get ready to dive into the 42nd Annual Biloxi Seafood Festival to celebrate the awesome seafood history of the Mississippi Gulf Coast! Come hungry for the yummiest seafood, cool arts and crafts, and live entertainment that’ll keep you grooving. Admission is $5.  Kids 12 and under are free.

 

Safety Day: Find the Helpers at TrainTastic Interactive Model Railroad Museum, Gulfport

  • 11 am-1 pm, September 9

  • Come and be a part of the ongoing “September is Special” events at TrainTastic! Safety Day is geared toward helping children be less fearful of people in uniform and showing children that First Responders, their vehicles and equipment are not scary! Biloxi Lion’s Club will also be offering free eye screenings all day! 

  • FREE admission for First Responders with ID all month long.

 

Princess Ball Biloxi

  • 2:30-4:30, September 10

  • The Princess Ball Biloxi features 6 or more princess characters. Hosted by Storybook Birthdays’ Fairy Godmother, Cinderella, Elsa, Rapunzel, Belle, Tiana, and Ariel (1989 version). They will lead fun activities including Princess Dancing, Stories, Singing, Games, Photo Ops and more. They will also have a short Superhero Segment with 2 Superheroes for a fun Hero Training exercise. There will be a Petting Zoo outside with a $5.00 Cash entry and a Unicorn Photo Station with a $5 cash fee. The petting zoo will be there before the event but not after so make sure you visit them early.

Audubon Academy at PRAC, Pascagoula

  • September 13

    • 9:30-11:30 am for ages 5-8 (K-2nd grade)

    • 12:30-2:30 pm for ages 8-11 (3rd-5th grade)

  • Audubon Academy is an educational opportunity for home-schooled children ages 5-11. They offer different sessions for grades K-2 and 3-5. Each month focuses on a different science topic and allows time for learning, outdoor play, exercise, and socializing. All sessions include a lesson, outdoor exploration, experiments, nature walks, games, stories, or crafts.

  • Session theme: All about Humingbirds

 

Homeschool Day at Mississippi Aquarium, Gulfport

  • 8:45-10 am, September 14

  • Biomes: Exploring the World’s Oceans – With 75% of the world covered by ocean it’s important to know what’s going on under the waves. This homeschool day will explore each ocean and their most notable features. Look into the Pacific’s trenches, dive around the Atlantic’s oceanic ridges, identify the corals of the Indian Ocean, understand the chemistry of the unfrozen Southern Ocean and travel back into the exploration of the Arctic Ocean!

 

STEAM Homeschool Day at Lynn Meadows 

  • Thursday, September 14 10:30am -12pm (ages 7-10)

  • Lynn Meadows Discovery Center offers homeschool classes including STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) topics. We offer a hands-on, minds-on STEAM based learning experience specialized for homeschool students. Perfect for ages 7-10, this programming gives your student a chance to experience LMDC in a whole new way!

Dusty’s All Star Circus, Biloxi

  • Showtimes: 4:30 pm and 7 pm on September 14 and 15

  • Wholesome family fun – Dusty’s circus features a variety of world-renowned artists. Dusty’s Circus promises fun for the entire family, featuring an international all-star cast of circus artists. The Circus is complete with all the tasty treats at our concession stand, including all the traditional favorites! This show aims to be a modern adaption of the classic American Circus in an intimate atmosphere. You and your children will experience the Circus up close and personal! 

 

Tykes and Trains: Early Childhood Education Program at TrainTastic, Gulfport

  • 9:30-10:30 am, every Wednesday and Friday from September 15-November 17

  • Calling all conductors and engineers-in-training! Board the learning express to become a part of “Tykes and Trains,” an early childhood education program for children 4 and under! Every Wednesday and Friday, TrainTastic will host an hour-long class filled with fun activities promoting early learning skills that can make a difference later in school success.

 

Hummingbird Festival, Pascagoula 

  • 9 am-3 pm, September 15-16

  • The annual Hummingbird Migration and Nature Festival celebrates the fall migration of these tiny flyers as they travel to wintering grounds south of the Gulf of Mexico.  Throughout the event, guests are immersed into all aspects of migration and the science behind banding and monitoring migration patterns.  Other exhibits will also be on site to share information regarding conservation awareness and environmental stewardship.  Storyteller Brian Fox Ellis will spin his tales as John James Audubon and raptors from the Freedom Ranch will be on display for all to see.  Local vendors will have locally made crafts, pottery, jellies, clothing and other items as well.



Coast-Wide Day of Play at Jones Park, Biloxi 

 

Festival Hispano de Pascagoula

  • In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, come ready for a day of live music, performances, delicious food, vendors, kid-friendly activities, career services, and fellowship. 

 

Senses Day at TrainTastic Interactive Model Railroad Museum, Gulfport

  • September 16

    • 11 am-1 pm: Senses Activities 

    • 4:30-6 pm: Dedicated Playtime for Special Sensory Kids

  • Come and be a part of the ongoing “September is Special” events at TrainTastic! Senses Day is centered around empathy and understanding for those whose lives may look different than yours. Through a series of sensitivity activities, visitors can gain firsthand insight into the experiences of individuals with sensory special needs, particularly related to hearing, seeing and touch. There will also be dedicated playtime for special sensory kids!



Hancock County Fair, Kiln

  • 5-10 pm, September 20 | 5-11 pm, September 21 | 5 pm-12 am, September 22 | 9 am – 12 am, September 23

  • This is the 10th annual Hancock County Fair!!! A family affair with Live Entertainment, Midway Games and Rides, Arts and Craft Vendors, Rodeo for all ages, Livestock and Local Restaurants sharing their specialties as well as traditional fair food.   • Admission Wednesday & Thursday is FREE! Friday Admission: $10.00 per adult, Children under 12 are free. Saturday Admission: $10.00 per adult, Children under 12 are free. Carnival ride prices are listed on the Facebook page.

  • The goal for the Hancock County Fair is to create a fun family atmosphere for all to enjoy. Creating memories for children and adults alike! A percentage of the profits from the fair go toward booking entertainment and planning the next year’s fair. Another percentage goes towards making improvements to the fairgrounds for the community to enjoy.

Gulf Coast Heart Walk, Gulfport

  • The Gulf Coast Heart Walk has always been a great way to get moving while socializing with friends, family, and co-workers leading up to and on the day of the event. But it’s so much more than a walk. Walking in the Heart Walk boosts your heart and mental health while helping millions of others simultaneously.

 

Dyslexia Simulation & Dance Party at TrainTastic Interactive Model Railroad Museum, Gulfport

Butterflies in the Pass Monarch Festival at War Memorial Park, Pass Christian

  • 10 am-1 pm, September 30

  • This free event  will feature speakers, educational exhibits, hands on activities for all ages and a walking parade for anyone in butterfly regalia (including pets). The goal of the festival is to celebrate and educate our community about Monarch butterflies and other pollinators and what we can do to help them thrive. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and to wear butterfly themed costumes. The Market in the Park will also take place during the festival and will have butterfly themed items for sale. If the weather is bad, the event will be moved to the Pass Christian Library.

 

Worldwide Day of Play: Games for Everyone at TrainTastic Interactive Model Railroad Museum, Gulfport

  • Come and be a part of the closing “September is Special” event at TrainTastic! In celebration of Worldwide Day of Play, TrainTastic will have games of all types set up in the STEAM Shop and West Pavilion for everyone to enjoy!

 

Worldwide Day of Play: LMDC with i9 sports, Gulfport

  • LMDC and the Association of Children’s Museums are excited to partner with Nickelodeon on the Worldwide Day of Play. This annual event encourages kids to turn off the tv, ditch the tablet, and play outside! Lynn Meadows Discovery Center will be participating in this playful event with bonus outdoor activities on the grounds all day long. Guests will have the opportunity to get active with outdoor games, jump ropes, hula hoops and much more!

OCTOBER

Cruisin’ The Coast® October 1-8, 2023 on the Mississippi Gulf Coast

 

Muddy Princess Gulf Coast, Gulfport

  • 7 am-1 pm, October 1

  • Muddy Princess is a 5k obstacle mud run for women ONLY! This event is for Princesses of all sizes, ages and fitness levels. They don’t focus on fastest times or competitions. They focus on fun, so be prepared to run, walk, crawl, climb, slide, balance and laugh your way along the course for an amazing “girls’ dirty day out!”

  • The minimum age for entry is 7 years young – but please, Moms, little Princesses (up to 13 years old) must be accompanied by a registered, participating adult. Event waivers must be signed by a parent or legal guardian of all Princesses under the age of 18. No waiver, no run, no exceptions.

Our villains will try to bring you to the other side.  They all have compelling tales. There are 2 sides to every story. Light food and beverage will be served. 

 

Hocus Pocus Family Night, McHenry

  • To celebrate ~spooky season~, gather your friends & family and meet  at Wild Acres for Hocus Pocus Family Night! 

  • This event is perfect for the whole family – Get hands on with exotic animals from all over the world AND enjoy a complimentary showing of Disney’s Halloween classic – Hocus Pocus! 

  • This event features an encounter with 𝐒𝐚𝐦𝐦𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐥𝐨𝐭𝐡 and a hands-on guided tour of the Wild Acres. On the tour, you will have the opportunity to hand feed and get hands on with animals such as porcupines, capybara, Patagonian cavies, and coatimundis. You’ll also get to check out and learn about an African caracal, a walk-in parrot aviary, ring-tailed lemurs, a black leopard, capuchin monkeys, patas monkey, golden spider monkey, Asian small-clawed otters, tigers, black bear, the goofiest cougar out there, and so much more! 

 

Fall Frenzy at Pine Hills Nursery, Pass Christian

  • The 4th annual Fall Frenzy is back by popular demand and will be 2 days this year! Let’s kick off Fall with this fun family event.  They will have pony rides, a petting zoo, an alpaca kissing booth, face painting, flower pot painting, food vendors, arts & crafts, Wild Side Animals, and bounce houses. Mississippi Peanut Festival at Mitchell Farms, Collins

  • Take a step back in time and tour a working farm with turn of the century antiques while enjoying over 75 vendors from all over the south. You can also register to participate in the 5th Annual Peanut Festival Run for a Cure 5K (All proceeds will benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital).

  • This event features an encounter with Sammy the Sloth and a hands-on guided tour of the entire facility and all of the animals we all love so much! You will have the opportunity to hand feed porcupines, capybaras, and cavies, experience coatimundis, kangaroos, and an African caracal, view ring tailed lemurs, a black leopard, capuchin monkeys, tamandua, the goofiest cougar, JJ the black bear, bengal tigers and much more!  ALL while enjoying wine of your choice, watching the sun set in our beautifully lit animal paradise!

Homeschool Day at Mississippi Aquarium, Gulfport

  • Creepy Chemistry – Ever wonder how the animal kingdom works? Well, chemistry is a major behind-the-scenes factor. This homeschool day explores how chemistry plays a hand in how our vet team monitors animal health. Visit with real shark researchers from USM and see how DNA is extracted and analyzed. Unravel the mystery of how toxins functions, and the animals that use them. Calculate the reasons why stress is bad for animals, and mix chemicals to create the building blocks that compose shells!

 

Mississippi Renaissance Festival at the Harrison County Fairgrounds, Gulfport

  • The Mississippi Renaissance Festival brings the past to life with fun interactive entertainment geared for all ages. The festival will feature Four Towne Squares with live music, dance troupes, hands on interactive demos, and live tournaments as well as kid friendly activities, from a Fairy Tale Trail and Mermaid Tea Parties to a unique Dragon Quest. Homeschool Monday at Infinity Science Center, Pearlington

  • 10-11 am, October 23

  • Habitats – Lab for ages 11-15. Lab is $5 per student and limited to 30 students on a first come first serve at the front desk for tickets. The child must be with parent at the ticket purchase.

  • Home School Monday is a themed educational program where homeschoolers and their families can experience hands-on STEM activities such as experiments and labs! Check out the calendar of events for up-to-date themes and pricing.

Spooky Springs at the Scary C, Ocean Springs

  • Spooky Springs @ The Scary C is coming back for two nights instead of one this year, and the haunted house will be even larger!

  • Come in your best costume and enjoy the spooky haunted house, games on the front lawn, trick or treating on the street, dancing with hype characters, and so much more! This event is open to the public and fun for all ages.

 

Family Fall Festival Hosted by the Gulfport High School Admiral Band, Gulfport

  • Bring your family and friends out to enjoy game prizes, music, vendors, face painting, and a costume contest. $5 armband purchase includes entry and games.

 

KrockTober Fest, Biloxi

  • FREE community event at The Salvation Army Kroc Center.  Get ready for a fun-filled day with a trunk or treat, an epic costume contest, bouncy houses, and an exciting vendor fair for the perfect opportunity to get started on your early Christmas shopping! They will also have food trucks serving up delicious treats to satisfy your cravings and much more!

NOVEMBER

PETER ANDERSON FESTIVAL, Ocean Springs

  • 9 am-5 pm, November 4-5

  • Presented by Blue Moon, this annual festival celebrates the arts in honor of local master potter, Peter Anderson. With over 400 booths lining the streets of downtown Ocean Springs, artists offer unique pieces from across the United States and beyond, such as oil paintings, pottery, hand-made jewelry, American folk toys, metalwork, and much more. Spend the weekend perusing the artisanal offerings, enjoying live entertainment under the 300-year-old live oak trees, and exploring the beautiful City of Ocean Springs and all it has to offer, including boutiques, restaurants, galleries, and antiques.

Audubon Academy at PRAC, Pascagoula

  • Audubon Academy is an educational opportunity for home-schooled children ages 5-11. They offer different sessions for grades K-2 and 3-5. Each month focuses on a different science topic and allows time for learning, outdoor play, exercise, and socializing. All sessions include a lesson, outdoor exploration, experiments, nature walks, games, stories, or crafts.

Homeschool Day at Mississippi Aquarium, Gulfport

  • Sea Turtle Studies – Turtles, turtles, and more turtles! Did you know that there are more than 310 species of turtles on earth? Broken up into 3 major groups: tortoises, terrapins, and marine turtles, you and your student can come and see species from each one. Get up close and learn about turtle anatomy, behaviors, habitats, and how you can assist in conservation efforts on their behalf.

Homeschool Day at Mississippi Aquarium, Gulfport

  • Description: Food, animal train, petting zoo, pony rides, corn cannon, pumpkin slingshhot, play areas, slides, vendors, and more.

  • Time & Cost: All October weekends starting October 7; Saturdays from 10 am-5 pm and Sundays from 1-6 pm.  Cost is $10 (kids 2 and under free). 

  • First Annual Corn Festival on October 21 from 10 am-5pm.

 

Middleton Farms, Moss Point 

  • Address: 21500 Otis Cooper Road

  • Description: Family owned-dairy farm.  Live cow milk demonstrations, hay ride, petting animals, toddler hay maze, kid zip-line and pumpkin patch.  

  • Time & Cost: Saturdays, October 7, 14, and 21 from 10 am–4 pm; Sundays, October 1, 8, 15, and 22 from 1–5 pm. Tickets are $12 at the gate.  Ages 2 and under free. Vendors and food available.
