Kimberly Marquar

Today we have the pleasure of introducing you to Kimberly Carver Marquar !! She was born & raised in Waveland and is 31 yrs old with an amazing hubby & son! You may know her as the owner of Southern Girl Cookies

"I have always been a go-getter holding down 2-3 jobs at all times. I was working as a waitress for 9yrs when I decided to randomly try some royal icing decorated sugar cookies! I posted my final product on FB (didn't think they were good at all- HA!) and my friends were asking me if I could make some for them! It just started to spiral at that point & before I knew it Southern Girl Cookies was born. Fast forward hundreds of cookie orders, many local businesses from car dealerships to schools to Banks, food chains & WLOX ,I finally decided to open a storefront in Waveland March 2022!

My day starts off by dropping my son off at school then headed to the cookie shop to bake & prep for the day. I am split between 2 locations during the week, it's a ton of work but I keep it fun... it's COOKIES for goodness sake "

When we asked Kimberly for some advice to share with the business-owner mamas out there, here's what she had to say:

"My first piece of advice to any other mamas running a business to give it to God & you will not fail! My second piece of advice is to make sure you are mentally & physically 100%. Take time off, we all need it. If you're not 100% nothing can be 100%. Book that massage or take that day off!"

We couldn't have said it any better! Kimberly, thank you for the opportunity to share your story!
